THE PEACE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME
IELTS Australia and the Queensland University of Technology, in association with the Peace Scholarship Programme are offering the opportunity for one student from India to study abroad in Australia for one semester commencing February 2009. The Peace Scholarship for an eligible student in India is worth up to AU$15000 covering tuition fees for study at the Queensland University of Technology for one semester (value $9000), funds to cover living costs, accommodation and other costs while in Australia ($6000) and other services and products offered by supporters of the Peace Scholarship Programme. Travel and visa costs are the responsibility of the recipient
Requirements:
At the time of application candidates must have completed at least three semesters and no more than six semesters of their first full-time undergraduate degree of an accredited course at any university in India; achieved at least a 65-70% average mark in the degree to date ; preferably gain credit transfer for their study abroad programme at the host university in Australia for their degree at their home institution. The candidates also need to possess a level of English language proficiency that satisfies both student’s visa requirements for entry to Australia as well as host institution requirements. In addition, they should not hold any citizenship or permanent residency in Australia and should not have previously studied overseas, either in Australia or elsewhere (unless on a scholarship or to study English). They should be able to demonstrate a commitment to ‘global peace and understanding’ through community, academic or professional achievements; able to indicate how the Peace Scholarship experience will enhance their professional development and help contribute to global peace and understanding and to demonstrate a financial need

SOUTH ASIA FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM FALL 2009
The East-West Center (EWC) is accepting applications from scholars and analysts who wish to undertake policy-relevant research and writing in one of the following areas: 1) International relations in South Asia; 2) Political change in South Asia; and 3) US -South Asia relations. The fellowship finances a three-month residence at the East-West Center in Washington. The fellowship will include a monthly stipend of
US$2500 to $4500 (dependent upon experience) while in residence at EWC in Washington, and round trip economy airfare to Washington, DC.
Requirements:
Applicants with or without a PhD will be considered. Applicants without a PhD will be considered based on their relevant professional experience. Applicants must be nationals of a country within the scope of their Fellowship or the United States and eligible to receive a fellowship stipend
Application:
There is no application form. Successful applications will include a cover letter, a full CV, two letters of reference, and a policy-relevant research proposal of ten pages (double spaced). The proposal should discuss the policy problem or issue to be examined, tentative hypothesis and arguments, a review and short bibliography of the relevant literature, plans for fieldwork (if any), and project time frame. Those seeking field research funds should briefly explain why and how they are to be used.
